Some people come to Mind’s Eye Hypnosis for hypnosis. Others ask about the second practice Yovanna offers: Pranic Healing. It is a quiet, no-touch energy practice, and it often comes up in the same conversations about stress, rest and feeling more like yourself. This article explains what it is, where it comes from, what a session looks like, and what it is not.
What Pranic Healing is
Pranic Healing is a structured system of energy work developed by Master Choa Kok Sui (1952–2007) in the Philippines in the late 1980s. He set out its method in his book Miracles Through Pranic Healing, and the practice is now taught in many countries.
The word prana comes from Sanskrit and is usually translated as “life force” or “vital energy”. It is the same idea found in many traditions, such as qi in Chinese medicine. Pranic Healing works from the view that the body has an energy field around it, sometimes called the aura, with energy centres often called chakras. The practice also holds that the body has its own natural ability to restore balance when conditions are right.
It is not tied to any religion. You don’t need to believe anything in particular to receive a session, and you don’t need to do anything except lie or sit comfortably.
What happens in a session
The most noticeable thing about Pranic Healing is that the practitioner doesn’t touch you. You stay fully clothed, sitting or lying down, and the practitioner works with their hands a few inches away from the body.
A session usually follows three steps:
- Scanning: the practitioner moves their hands slowly through the space around you to sense areas that feel congested or depleted.
- Cleansing: sweeping hand movements intended to clear out stale or heavy energy, a little like airing out a room.
- Energizing: directing fresh prana to the areas that need it, and then “stabilizing” so the work settles.
Most people simply rest. Many describe the experience as calming, and some notice warmth, tingling, or a sense of lightness. Others notice very little during the session itself. All of these are normal, and none of them is a measure of whether the session “worked”.
Why it sits alongside hypnosis
Hypnosis works with the mind through focused attention and suggestion. Pranic Healing approaches the same person from a different direction, through the body’s energy field, without words or effort on the client’s part. Some clients like to keep them separate. Others find the two complement each other: a Pranic session can be a gentle way to settle before hypnosis, or a restful counterpart for someone who is tired of talking about what is going on.
Yovanna will talk through which approach, or which combination, makes sense for you. There is no pressure to try both.
What Pranic Healing is not
We want to be clear about this, because honesty matters more to us than marketing:
- It is not medical treatment and it does not diagnose, treat or cure any disease or medical condition.
- It is not a replacement for your doctor, therapist, medication or any care you are already receiving. Please keep those in place. If you have a health concern, start with a licensed medical professional.
- The research is limited. A small number of studies have looked at Pranic Healing, but there is not yet strong scientific evidence for specific health outcomes. We describe it as a complementary practice, and people’s experiences vary.
What we can offer is a calm, respectful hour in which you are cared for, you don’t have to explain or perform, and you can simply rest.
Is it right for you?
People who are curious about Pranic Healing often:
- want a relaxing, non-verbal session that asks nothing of them
- are interested in mind–body and energy practices alongside conventional care
- prefer a no-touch approach
- already work with Yovanna on hypnosis and want to add something restful
If you aren’t sure, ask. Yovanna is happy to explain the practice in more detail before you book anything.
Pranic Healing is offered as a complementary wellness practice. It is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment, and no specific outcome is promised. Please continue any care you receive from your healthcare providers.
